You read it right! The grumpy and hot-tempered Squidward Q. Tentacles is not a squid. According to Stephen Hillenburg, he is a cephalopod in which specie is related to an octopus. This is despite the fact that his name contains the word "squid" and him having six legs. The animators created squidward with six tentacles because they think that giving him eight will make him look too burdened.But who doesn't love the trying hard musician named Squidward (though he's not really a squid) right? Now, let's get to know more about him.
Squidward lives between Patrick's rock house and Spongebob's pineapple house. He works as the cashier of Krusty Krab, a job he absolutely loathes. He is delusional about his talent (such as playing the clarinet) though no one has said that he is good.
In spite of him being always mad and grumpy, Squidward is still one of the most intelligent character in the series. He has been categorized as the most educated one, along with Sandy, Plankton, and Gary.
He has a sarcastic attitude and sees others as uncivilized morons while failing to accept his own shortcomings. Squidward sees himself as misunderstood and unappreciated, blaming the society for his failures.
Squidward has a considerable antagonistic side, frequently taking advantage of the situation to keep Spongebob from tormenting him. But even if Squidward is irritated with SpongeBob, SpongeBob never seems to notice and still treats him as a friend.
